Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is the specialty of dentistry and pathology which deals with the nature, identification, and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. It is a science that investigates the causes, processes, and effects of these diseases.
It was established in the year 2004. It deals with  Dental Anatomy & Histology and Oral Pathology which are taught to undergraduate and postgraduate students. This course is designed to enable students to (1). Acquire basic knowledge regarding normal anatomy & histology of tooth and associated oral structures; (2). Achieve a basic understanding of main diseases and the ability to classify diseases according to the basic pathologic process; (3). Be acquainted with the clinical, radiographic, and main histopathologic features of significant diseases of the oral and maxillofacial region.
It works on many aspects of the academic and research field with a specific focus on oral cancer detection, odontogenic tumors, dental caries, molecular aspect of various oral diseases. The department has a standard Histopathology laboratory for providing oral biopsy service to clinicians. It helps and collaborates with various departments and institutes in the field of research. The department has a fully functioning hematology laboratory, histopathology laboratory; the Exfoliative cytology laboratory was all investigations that are carried out routinely.
