Implementation of guidelines to curb the menace of ragging in People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal
1. In order to ensure the ‘ragging-free environment’ in the campus, People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal has depicted directions of the Apex court and/or of the Central or State Governments as applicable in the ‘prospectus’ and other admission related documents.
2. The formats of undertakings, affidavits, and certificates to be deposited by fresher students/parents / guardians are appended in the brochure containing the rules, regulations and code of conduct for the students of People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.
2.1 Every fresher student has furnished a Character certificate from the institutions wherefrom he/she has passed his/her qualifying examination. Institution is keeping intense watch upon any students having negative entry in their character certificate.
2.2 Annual undertaking has been collected by the institute from fresher students at the commencement of academic year.
2.3 Annual undertaking has been collected by the institute from fresher students residing in hostel at the commencement of academic year.

3. compliance to the above effect is ensured by affiliating with People’s University.
4. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal has engaged ‘a professional counselor’ at the time of admission to counsel ‘freshers’ in order to prepare them for the life ahead, especially for adjusting to life in hostels
5. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal ensures that there would be a clear gap of one to two weeks between the date of joining of ‘freshers’ and the ‘seniors’
6. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal informs the parents of senior students to send their wards only on the due date of commencement of the academic session and not earlier.
7. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal arranged a joint ‘sensitization’ programme and ‘counseling’ of both ‘freshers’ and senior’ and was addressed by the Dean and Nodal Officer of the Anti Ragging Committee. The students residing in the Hostels are also addressed on this count by the Dean, Nodal Officer of the Anti Ragging Committee and Hostel Warden.
8. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal is having an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squads, and is comprising of comprises of senior teachers of the institution, representatives of Civil & Police administration and local media.
9. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal has constituted a ‘Mentoring Cell’ to oversee and involve senior students as ‘Mentors’ for the ‘freshers’
10. Anonymous random surveys are conducted across the entire 1st year batch of students every fortnight during the first three months of the academic session. The methodology of such survey is designed by the institution appropriately to avoid compromisation of anonymity of the ‘whistle blowers’
11. All the students are accommodated in hostel inside college campus except for day scholars (local students residing with their parent / guardian)
12. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal ensures confidentiality at all costs of the complaints or information in regard to ragging written / oral or even from third parties.
13. People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal will ensure that remedial action is initiated and completed within a week of the incident itself.
14. Big posters are also prominently displayed on all the notice boards of all the departments, hostels and other buildings as well as at vulnerable places to make the community at large and the students in particular aware of the dehumanizing effect of ragging and the approach of the institution towards those indulging in ragging.
15. Apart from placing posters at strategic places, the institution is also taking other educative measures to increase the level of awareness to curb menace of ragging among students of People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal.
