Suresh<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>presented the paper entitled \u201cRole of Ergonomics in Rehabilitation of subjects with Parkinson\u2019s disease\u201d in the scientific session of Disability &amp; Design Ergonomics at HWWE 2009 on 19th&nbsp;Dec. 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Significance of study-\u00a0This study will demonstrate the role of Ergonomics and Rehabilitation in Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>HYPOTHESIS-<\/strong>\u00a0The study is based on null hypothesis which started as \u201cErgonomics Modification at living place is not significant in overcoming functional disability of parkinsonism patient\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>METHODOLOGY-\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The study was conducted on 11 subjects of Parkinson\u2019s diseases chosen from the physiotherapy O.P.Ds of People\u2019s Hospital and were advised to be on regular physiotherapy, medical treatment along with Ergonomicsinterventions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neuro- Physiotherapy assessment charts, Hoen and Yahr scale, UPDRS (unified Parkinson disease rating scale), Barthel Index, Daily Activity Log.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Informal experimental design :- Before &amp; after without control group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subjects were\u00a0selected through\u00a0\u00a0purposive\u00a0\u00a0Sampling and were assisted &amp; trained at their living place 3 times a week for 4 week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The subjects had under gone pre test before the ergonomics advices and modifications on UPDRS (unified Parkinson disease rating scale) and, Barthel Index.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the duration of 4 weeks all the above subjects had under gone post test on the same\u00a0scale and the data are collected for advance\u00a0\u00a0analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The selected items of UPDRS (unified Parkinson disease rating scale) is used for the study and the total score of UPDRS is 48. The Barthel Index had the total score of 100 out of 10 items. Both the scale measure the freedom\/level of functional capabilities in neurological disorders and is widely used in Parkinson\u2019s patient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The outcome strongly favors the ergonomics interventions as an effective tool in the management of Parkinsonism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Vaibhav&nbsp; Kapre&nbsp;presented the paper entitled by&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cA Comparative study of flow &amp; volume oriented incentive&nbsp; spirometry , After upper abdominal surgery using PFT studies\u201d in the&nbsp; scientific session of 48th&nbsp;annual conference of Indian association of Physiotherapist (IAP), Manglore branch on 23rd&nbsp;jan 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STUDY DESIGN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experimental study design was adopted for the study. 40 (20 in group 1 &amp; 20 in group 2) patients from male surgery ward who had planned for upper abdominal surgery were randomly selected. Systemic random sampling method is used to divide the patients into 2 groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PROCEDURE-<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>40 patients from male surgery ward who had planned for upper abdominal surgery were randomly selected.
