Dr. Subhash J. Bhore

Subhash is an accomplished educator, researcher, and biological risk management professional with 25 years of experience, including over 16 years in academia and 8 years in the biotechnology industry. He earned his BSc and MSc in Botany from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, and began his research career at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory. In 2000, he received a Doctoral Fellowship to pursue a PhD in Molecular Genetics at the National University of Malaysia. Post-PhD, he served as Senior Research Officer and later as Principal Investigator and Head of R&D at Melaka Institute of Biotechnology, Malaysia. In 2008, he joined the AIMST University (Malaysia) and contributed at various levels to the faculty of applied sciences and the university. Subhash has published 62 peer-reviewed articles, six books and submitted 11,918 DNA sequences to GeneBank. He has supervised 97 students and received 27 international fellowships/honours/awards/recognitions. He also served as a subject matter expert (SME) and consultant to nonprofit international development organizations, including The U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) and Health Security Partners (HSP), USA, dedicated to building local capacity to improve biosecurity, biosafety, sustainability, and global health security.

The Major research work accomplished are DNA fingerprinting of indigenous guava varieties and tagging of wilt resistance gene(s) funded by DBT. and study on DNA repair mechanism in testicular extract in rats from natural radiation area in Kerala. Five research projects have been completed at CSRD, Peoples University in medicinal properties of Cordyceps militaris and interfering compounds on bacterial biofilm formation. A joint research work on health response of soy products through animal study with Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR Bhopal. Guided 45 PG dissertations and have 30 publications in nation and international journal.

I, being always inclined towards development of newer techniques, methodologies, research orientation and futuristic approach for human friendly deliverances, and have largely focused my priorities on developing skills, training the needy and guiding graduate, post graduate and Ph.D. students in area of basic and applied biological sciences. I believe in developing ecosystem based on culture of responsibility among students and teachers for betterment of Society and environment.
