The Department of Biotechnology, School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh established in 2023 the department of Biotechnology is the newest department in the state to provide graduate engineering degrees in biotechnology. The goal of the biotechnology department is to become a sustainable centre of superior biotechnology for research and higher education. The department is a hub for research-driven, hands-on biotechnology education. The department is reaching new heights thanks to the mix of highly skilled, creative, and research-oriented faculty. The department is actively engaged in research, student development, and placements. In order to improve students’ competitiveness, placements, and general personalities, planned soft-skills training programs and preparation for competitive tests such as GATE, CAT, and CSIR NET are provided.

About the Program
B.Tech. in Biotechnology – Overview
Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology offers a blended curriculum with multiple areas of science, technology and engineering focusing on research. The program provides a pragmatic approach for an enriched learning experience with a research focus.
The department offers state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to carry out research in downstream processing, bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering, bioinformatics, drug delivery, and animal and plant biotechnology.
Eligibility: Class XII passes with Biology or Math, Physics & Chemistry as main subjects with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category).
Duration of the Programme: 4 Years.

The department of Biotechnology has different state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to carry out research in several areas of biotechnology including biochemistry, enzyme engineering, cellular & molecular biology and microbiology.
Scope of B.Tech in Biotechnology
The programme will enable students to acquire knowledge of the essentials of Biology and Chemical engineering to lay a strong foundation for understanding the emerging and advanced engineering concepts in Biotechnology. It will equip them with the right biotechnology skills to develop products with improved characteristics for increasing farmers’ income, improving human health and decreasing environmental pollution.
