Intercollegiate Robotics and Technical Competition – IIT Techfest Mumbai 2026

Date: 4–11 October 2026 – Twenty-five students of the School of Research and Technology (SORT), People’s University, Bhopal, delivered an impressive performance in the IIT Techfest Mumbai 2026 Zonal Rounds held across Nagpur, Bhopal, and Gandhinagar from 4 to 11 October 2026. Four teams secured notable positions: Team Charlie (2nd in Roboreach), Theta Shift (3rd), Botexe (4th), and Crysta Robo (5th). Students from Biotechnology, Food Technology, and Computer Science and Engineering participated, including first-semester students. Overall, ten university teams qualified for the Grand Finale in Mumbai, showcasing their technical expertise, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Workshop on Robotics, AI & Emerging Technologies

Date: 03 October 2026 : The Department of Electrical Engineering, SORT, People’s University, in collaboration with IIT Bombay, organized a one-day workshop on “Robotics, AI & Emerging Technologies” on 03 October 2026. Mr. Arpit Soni, Director, Robonauts India, introduced students to robotics, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and their industrial applications through expert discussions and live robot demonstrations. The workshop provided practical exposure and insights into technological advancements and career opportunities in robotics and AI.

Swachhata Pakhwada: Cleanliness and Environmental Awareness Campaign

Date: 02–08 October 2026 – The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Environment Club of the School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, organized Swachhata Pakhwada from 02 to 08 October 2026 to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and social responsibility among students. Activities included campus cleaning, waste management, slogan writing, and skit performances focusing on hygiene, waste segregation, and responsible waste disposal. The campaign encouraged students to maintain a clean and healthy environment and contribute towards a greener and more sustainable society.

Expert Session on International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

Date: 29 September 2026 – The Centre for Scientific Research and Development (CSRD), Faculty of Science, in collaboration with the Department of Food Engineering and Technology, SORT, organized an expert session titled “From Food Loss to Food Value: Science, Technology and Sustainable Solutions” on 29 September 2026. Dr. Dipika Agrahar Murugkar, Principal Scientist, ICAR–Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, discussed food loss reduction, sustainable food processing, storage, and value addition. The session encouraged students to adopt responsible food consumption practices and explore innovative solutions to minimize food waste.

Two-Day Training Programme on Concrete Technology and Testing

Date: 22–23 September 2026 – A two-day training programme on “Concrete Technology and Testing” was conducted at CSIR–AMPRI, Bhopal, on 22–23 September 2026. Er. Shiv Singh Patel and Dr. (Er.) Manish Mudgal delivered technical sessions on concrete testing, quality control, 3D concrete printing, geopolymeric concrete, and sustainable construction materials. Participants also visited a fly-ash-based geopolymeric road stretch, gaining practical exposure to advanced construction technologies and sustainable engineering practices.

Celebration of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Jayanti

Date: 17 September 2026 – The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, celebrated Bhagwan Vishwakarma Jayanti on 17 September 2026 with enthusiasm and devotion. The programme honoured Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman, and highlighted the importance of engineering, craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation. Faculty members, staff, and students participated in the celebration, recognizing the contribution of engineers and skilled workers to societal and national development.

Engineer’s Day Celebration 2026

Date: 15 September 2026 – The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, celebrated Engineer’s Day under the theme “Engineers: The Heart of Innovation” on 15 September 2026. The programme featured activities including a Model Making Competition, Technical Rangoli, Robo Race, and E-Gaming to encourage technical creativity, innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills among engineering students. The activities highlighted the role of engineers in technological advancement and nation-building.

National Space Day: Workshop on Real Satellite Model Making

Date: 22 August 2026 – Students participated in the National Space Day celebrations organized by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST) on 22 August 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, Bhopal. The programme featured an address by Dr. Swapnil Trivedi, an ISRO scientist, on India’s space missions and career opportunities in space science. Students engaged in satellite model-making and practical design sessions alongside participants from various institutions across Madhya Pradesh, gaining exposure to space technology and innovation.

Memorandum of Understanding with Training and Learning (TnL)

Date: 30 June 2026 – The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, signed a Letter of Understanding with Training and Learning (TnL), Bhopal, on 30 June 2026 for a five-year academic and industry collaboration. The partnership aims to enhance Computer Science and Engineering students’ skills through industry-oriented training, programming practice, projects, and specialized learning in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations and improve students’ employability.

Memorandum of Understanding with Swatantra Sahayak Foundation (SSF), Bhopal

Date: 29 June 2026 – The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Swatantra Sahayak Foundation (SSF), Bhopal, on 29 June 2026 to promote academic collaboration and organize national and international conferences. The partnership focuses on research, innovation, knowledge exchange, academic event management, and publication opportunities. This collaboration aims to strengthen the institution’s research environment and expand its academic engagement with professional organizations.

World Environment Week Celebration 2026

Date: 05–11 June 2026 – The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, celebrated World Environment Week from 05 to 11 June 2026 through activities promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. The programme included a tree plantation drive, a special lecture on water conservation by Lokendra Thakkar, and competitions in rangoli, poster making, and face painting. The activities encouraged students and faculty members to support biodiversity conservation, water management, pollution control, and eco-friendly practices.

Career Guidance Session: Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow

The School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, in collaboration with NITDP, organized a career guidance session titled “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” on 16 April 2026. The session introduced students to Industrial AutoCAD, data analytics, and artificial intelligence applications across industries. Resource person Mr. Sanjay Agrawal highlighted emerging career opportunities and the importance of developing analytical and AI-related skills to enhance employability and prepare for future industry requirements.

Five-Day Hands-on Training Programme on Micropropagation Techniques for Conservation of Rare and Endangered Medicinal Plants of Madhya Pradesh

Date: 22–27 June 2026 – The Department of Biotechnology, School of Research and Technology, People’s University, Bhopal, organized a hands-on training programme on micropropagation techniques from 22 to 27 June 2026 to promote the conservation of rare and endangered medicinal plants of Madhya Pradesh. The programme featured expert lectures and practical sessions on laboratory safety, sterilization, culture-medium preparation, explant selection, inoculation, and subculturing. Experts from Barkatullah University, People’s University, and IISER Bhopal shared their expertise in plant biotechnology and biodiversity conservation, providing participants with practical knowledge of plant tissue culture techniques.

TARANG 2026 – Waves of Energy and Creativity

the annual function of the School of Research and Technology (SORT), was organised from 31 March to 4 April 2026 with great enthusiasm at the SORT Campus and Large Auditorium. The event witnessed participation from around 300 students and was coordinated by all departments. It featured a vibrant mix of sports competitions, cultural performances, technical activities, and a festive fete, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents beyond academics.

The multi-day celebration fostered teamwork, creativity, and cultural expression through activities such as dance, music, drama, and sports events. Overall, the event created a lively and engaging environment, strengthening unity and collaboration among students while promoting holistic development and leaving a positive and lasting impact on participants and the audience.

The event focused on motivating students by emphasizing his philosophy of discipline, inner strength, and self-development. The programme included Yoga Asana sessions, with active student participation, reinforcing the importance of maintaining physical and mental health.

Celebration of National Mathematics Day

The Department of Applied Science and Humanities, SORT, People’s University, Bhopal organized a two-day National Mathematics Day Celebration on 22–23 December 2025 to promote mathematical awareness and analytical thinking among students. The event featured an expert lecture by Dr. Sabhakant Dwivedi, an essay writing competition, and a model exhibition with poster presentations. Funded by MPCST, Bhopal, the programme concluded with the distribution of cash prizes and certificates, encouraging creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
