TARANG 2026 – Waves of Energy and Creativity

the annual function of the School of Research and Technology (SORT), was organised from 31 March to 4 April 2026 with great enthusiasm at the SORT Campus and Large Auditorium. The event witnessed participation from around 300 students and was coordinated by all departments. It featured a vibrant mix of sports competitions, cultural performances, technical activities, and a festive fete, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents beyond academics.

The multi-day celebration fostered teamwork, creativity, and cultural expression through activities such as dance, music, drama, and sports events. Overall, the event created a lively and engaging environment, strengthening unity and collaboration among students while promoting holistic development and leaving a positive and lasting impact on participants and the audience.

Celebration of Lahari Festival

The School of Research and Technology organised the Lahari Festival to promote cultural awareness and student engagement. The event provided a platform for students to showcase their talents while fostering creativity, collaboration, and appreciation of cultural diversity within the academic community.

Joy of Giving

The Joy of Givinginitiative was organised to promote social responsibility and humanitarian values among students. The programme emphasised community service and encouraged active student participation in supporting underprivileged communities.

National Youth Day Celebration

Date: 12 January 2026
The School of Research and Technology commemorated National Youth Day in honour of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event focused on motivating students by emphasizing his philosophy of discipline, inner strength, and self-development. The programme included Yoga Asana sessions, with active student participation, reinforcing the importance of maintaining physical and mental health.

Celebration of National Mathematics Day

Date: 22-23 December 2025
The Department of Applied Science and Humanities, SORT, People’s University, Bhopal organized a two-day National Mathematics Day Celebration on 22–23 December 2025 to promote mathematical awareness and analytical thinking among students. The event featured an expert lecture by Dr. Sabhakant Dwivedi, an essay writing competition, and a model exhibition with poster presentations. Funded by MPCST, Bhopal, the programme concluded with the distribution of cash prizes and certificates, encouraging creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.

Academic Visit to ICAR-NIHSAD

B.Tech Biotechnology second-year students visited ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal, gaining firsthand exposure to high-security animal disease research and advanced biosafety facilities. The visit featured expert interactions and an insightful presentation by Dr. G. Venkatesh.

Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology

The School of Research and Technology (SORT), People’s University, successfully organized a Six-Day Faculty Development Programme on Advancement in Research Methodology Tools & Techniques. The programme included expert sessions on research tools, grant writing, publication ethics, and innovative teaching methodologies. The initiative significantly enhanced faculty research competence and academic excellence. A major six-day FDP featuring expert sessions from MANIT, NITTTR, GMC, and IISER with certificate distribution.

SORT organized a Five-Day Workshop on Introductory Bioinformatics for B.Tech Biotechnology students. The workshop covered databases, sequence alignment, genomics, and phylogenetics, combining theory with hands-on practical sessions to strengthen students’ computational biology skills

International Microorganism Day Celebration

The Department of Biotechnology, SORT, celebrated International Microorganism Day with poster presentations, technical rangoli, and an invited talk by Dr. NeerjaMallick, Registrar, People’s University. Over 100 students participated, fostering scientific curiosity and awareness about microbiology.

One-Week Workshop on Python Programming

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a One-Week Workshop on Python Programming, attended by more than 50 students. The workshop covered fundamentals to advanced concepts with hands-on coding sessions, enabling students to apply Python in real-world problem-solving.

Vishwakarma Puja Celebration

Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated in the Mechanical Engineering Workshop at SORT, honoring tools, machines, and craftsmanship. The celebration emphasized safety, productivity, and respect for engineering professions among students and faculty members.

Engineer’s Day Celebration – “Engineers: The Heart of Innovation”

Engineer’s Day was celebrated at SORT with expert lectures, technical quizzes, Robo Race, poster competitions, and cultural programs. The event highlighted innovation, teamwork, leadership, and technical excellence among engineering students.

Hindi Diwas Celebration

SORT celebrated Hindi Diwas through debates, poetry recitations, and open-mic sessions. Organized by the Applied Science & Humanities Department, the event promoted linguistic pride and cultural heritage among students.

Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign

As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, SORT actively participated in SwachhataPakhwada by organizing cleanliness drives, waste segregation awareness programmes, and cafeteria hygiene campaigns, promoting a clean and healthy campus environment.

Orientation Programme 2025–26

SORT conducted a Three-Day Orientation Programme for newly admitted students of the Academic Session 2025–26. The programme included academic briefings, campus visits, interactive sessions, and an educational outing to ensure a smooth transition into university life.

International Women’s Day Celebration

On International Women’s Day, SORT honored the contributions of female staff members. Pink caps were distributed as a symbol of unity and empowerment, reinforcing the importance of gender equality in academia and society.

Plantation Drive – Lemon and Moringa Trees

A Plantation Drive was organized at the SORT campus to promote environmental sustainability. Lemon and Moringa trees were planted in the presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harish Rao, Registrar Dr. NeerjaMallick, faculty members, and students.

Educational Visit to IISER Bhopal

The Department of Biotechnology organized an educational visit to the Central Laboratory Facility, IISER Bhopal. Students gained hands-on exposure to advanced instruments such as HPLC, NMR, XRD, and TEM, enhancing their understanding of modern research techniques.

Industrial Visit to CRISP Bhopal

Students visited CRISP Bhopal, gaining exposure to CNC machining, robotics, AI, IoT, automation, and cybersecurity. The visit strengthened industry-academia linkage and enhanced practical learning.

Expert Lecture on Precision Engineering

Students presented innovative working models, including IoT-based Health Monitoring Systems and Women Safety Systems, earning top positions.
