About Department – COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING
The aim of Computer Science Department, SORT, People’s University is to equip their students with latest technical skills to cope up with the trends and the needs of the industry. Keeping this in view our university has a plethora of diverse and specialized industry oriented courses.
In addition, the institution is also in process of collaboration with the industry giants by establishing “Centers of Excellence” across various concentrations that are focused on developing professional and technical skills of the students.
The courses and the curricula are tailored and designed to cater to the requirements of industrial deployment and research activities.
More and more focus is given to project and lab based learning, seminars and webinars. This not only imparts high class theoretical knowledge but also trains the students with real time practical scenarios, facilitating the transition of the students from academics to the industry.
Courses like B-Tech with specialization in cloud computing are being offered and also preferred over the traditional core B-Tech Course as they give the graduates an extra edge during the placements.
The graduates are encouraged to leverage the opportunities provided by numerous conferences, industry visits and guest lectures by industry experts that happen as a part of the technical programs for developing their overall personalities and gaining industry specific knowledge.
Laboratories
DEPARTMENT LABORATORIES:
The department of Computer Science& Engineering is enriched with well equipped laboratories. We provide students to undertake their practical and assignment work. The department has Systems with Dual core 2.7GHz, 1GB Ram, 500 GB HDD in six computer labs. All the required soft wares are installed with antivirus with periodic updates and maintenance of laboratories is at a high priority.
PROGRAMMING LAB:
This lab is dedicated for C ,C++,Python programming Laboratory, to understand the basic concept of programming.
JAVA PROGRAMMING LAB:
The goal of this lab is to provide students with the ability to write programs in Java and apply concepts described in the Object-Oriented Programming course. Each practical class will culminate in an assessed exercise. This lab is to make students be able to use the Java SDK environment to create, debug and run Java programs.
NETWORKING LAB:
The purpose of this Lab is to be able to explain, configure, verify, and troubleshoot complex computer networks at an introductory level. This Lab helps to learn basic concepts of computer networking and acquire practical notions of protocols with the emphasis on TCP/IP. It provides a practical approach to Ethernet/Internet networking.
OPERATING SYSTEM LAB:
This lab is used to familiarize students with the different operating system like Linux environment, fundamentals of shell scripting/programming, To familiarize students with basic Linux administration. The objective of this lab is to introduce the students to LINUX kernel programming techniques and also the advanced C systems programming and debugging techniques in a LINUX environment.
DATABASE LAB:
This lab is equipped with MY SQL SERVER DATABASE. Students learn to build and maintain the database by using SQL server.
