The Department of prosthodontics deals with a wide array of problems encountered such as , partial or complete loss of teeth, Jaw joint problem and crippling, loss of craniofacial structures and are treated using modalities such as crowns,bridges,veneers,inlays,complete and removable partial dentures,Maxillofacial Prosthesis & Dental and Maxillofacial implants to name a few .
The current focus today in on preventive prosthodontics and the research projects carried out in our department. We examine teeth, jaw, gums and suggests the type of prosthesis treatment that is right for the particular cases.

Mission & Goal

To Develop individual in to dentists who are not just individual who are professionally trained , but also high in moral and ethical values , imparting profound integrity & character to every endeavor that deal with , not only in our institution but in the society at large .

Goals of the Department

  • The goal of prosthodontics program is to provide basic & advanced education in Prosthodontics for an improved understanding of prosthetic rehabilitation
  • To increase cognitive skills in management of geriatric & special care need patients.
  • To transform the nature of dental education and particle in ways that will dramatically improve the way we serve our students, our patient & the surrounding community.

The department of Prosthodontics is located in Ground floor of Block-B. UG Clinic is provided with 38 Dental Chairs and supporting laboratory. Pre-clinical Prosthodontic laboratory and Dental Material Labs are spacious and are located on the first floor of Block-C. Nickel chrome lab with necessary equipment like Induction casting, furnaces, Sand blasters, milling machine, surveyors, PINdex, model trimmers, Lathes is also located in Block-C. Ceramic lab with necessary equipment like ceramic furnaces etc are provided  PG Clinic is located in Ground floor in Block-A.

CDE PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS CROWN AND BRIDGE ON “ALL-ON-4 “CONCEPTS AND BEYOND.

A two-day CDE program on “All-on-4” was conducted on 10th and 11th April 2023 at People’s College of Dental Science & Research Centre, Bhopal.
Dr. Hemant Gupta and Dr. Swati Gupta were the guest speakers from Lucknow who elaborated the audience on the topic of implantology “All on 4” CONCEPTS AND BEYOND. Delegates from all over Madhya Pradesh and other states also participated.
The workshop consisted of lectures, demonstration and live surgery by Dr. Hemant and Dr. Swati gupta on patient.
In the live surgery 4 screws were inserted in patients mouth and the patient received the fixed denture on the same day.
The delegates also got a chance to do hands on dummy models. Dr. Parimala Kulkarni Dean of PCDS & RC and Dr. Neerja malik (registrar, people’s university) graced the occasion.
The entire program was coordinated with the support of Dr. Swapnil Parlani Head of department of Prosthodontics and her team.

WORLD PROSTHODONTIST’S DAY CELEBRATION ON 22ND JANUARY,2023

A progamme was conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics Crown & Bridge . The chief guest for the event was Dr. Abhishek Sharma Professor and consultant. His lecture was on the topic “Aesthetic and functional aspects of organ reconstruction in oral cancer surgeries”, followed by Presentation on the topic “Maxillofacial rehabilitation” by Dr. Aashiba Jain,. P.G. Resident of the case reports done in the department. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the HOD Dr. Swapnil Parlani .

INTERNATIONAL GERIATRIC (ELDERLY) DAY CELEBRATION – 2022

An awareness program was organized on the occasion of International Day of Elderly on Saturday 1st October at the Department of Prosthodontics at the People’s College of Dental Sciences and Research Center, Bhanpura , Bhopal. This day of October was first celebrated in 1991.
In the program, the elderly were made aware about the dental treatment modalities and options for the geriatric patients medicinal care and nutrition by Dr. Aishwarya Bisen and Dr. Pooja Nayak who addressed the gathering.
They patients were appreciated with a token of flowers as well a free distribution of Denture cleansing Kit by the Dean of the College.
The heads of all the departments of the college and Dr. Swapnil Parlani, the head of the department of prosthodontics, other professors of the department, Dr. Kirti Jaju Srivastava, Dr. Shreyans, Dr. Nimit Jain, Dr. Vikas, Dr. Shipra, Dr. Apoorva, Dr. Shraddha, all of the department postgraduates were also present as the organising Committee.

WORLD PROSTHODONTIST’S DAY CELEBRATION ON 22ND JANUARY,2022

Department of Prosthodontics Crown And Bridge, Peoples College Of Dental Sciences And Research Center, Bhopal, on the occasion of Prosthodontist Day i.e. 22nd January 2022 organized a program which began with lamp lighting ceremony to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati followed by words of motivation by our honorable dean, Dr Parimala Kulkarni and our very esteemed HOD Dr Swapnil Parlani.
The event began with a community outreach public awareness video highlighting the significance of prosthodontics. The post graduate students and Interns displayed the life of a dental student from UG college to PG life, highlighting the malpractice of Prosthodontics as Quackery with a skit. Also, a Digital photography competition was organized and the winners were , Aishwarya Raikwar ( UG student ) , Dr. Sumit Verma, Dr. Palak Mishra .Concluding the program, a Flash Mob was displayed by our PG students to make the program more Energetic and full of Enthusiasm.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kirti Jajoo Shrivastava, Professor, Department of Prosthodontics And Crown And Bridge.

“WORLD GERIATRIC DAY CELEBRATION ” by department of prosthodontics- 1st October,2021

The UN General Assembly in the year 1990, declared 1 October as “International day of Older Persons.” This propitious day is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescene and elder abuse. The department of Prosthodontics, Crown & Bridge organized a program for the Geriartric  Patients of PCDS&RC. The event was addressed by Dr.Sarah Nomani and Dr.Palak Mishra under the stewardship of Vice Dean and HOD of Department Of Prosthodontics, Crown &Bridge , Dr.Swapnil Parlani and in the humble presence of Dr.Kirti Jajoo Shrivastava, Dr.Shreyans Damade, Dr.Nimit Jain, Dr.Pushkar Dwivedi , Dr.Shipra Shukla and Dr.Vikas Lekhwani  and the Heads of Department of other dental specialities.

The purpose of the program was to create awareness among the elderly patients regarding treatment modalities and Diet & Nutrition. The Golden- Agers actively participated and gave their valuable prospective .The department  gave them token of appreciation for their valuable participation in the form Dentifrices, sponsored by Colgate.

And as Theodore Rooselvelt quoted,” Old age is like everything else. To make a success of, you have got to start young.”

CDE PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS ON ‘FULL MOUTH REHABILITATION’

A one day CDE program on Full Mouth Rehabilitation was conducted on 3rd February, 2020 at People’s College of Dental Science & Research Centre, Bhopal.
A renowned national level speaker Dr. Atul Bhatnagar , a professor from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) addressed the audience on the topic full mouth rehabilitation. A total 185 delegates from Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior & Jabalpur were participated.The entire session delivered by Dr. Atul Bhatnagar was very interactive & speaker answered many queries raised by the participants
