About the Department:

The Department of Civil Engineering at the School of Research and Technology (SORT), People’s University, Bhopal, was established in 2012 with the objective of producing skilled and competent civil engineers to meet the growing infrastructure needs of the nation.

The department offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs designed to provide strong theoretical foundations along with practical exposure. It focuses on core areas such as structural, geotechnical, transportation, environmental, and water resources engineering, while also integrating modern technologies and industry-oriented practices.

With experienced faculty members and well-equipped laboratories—including surveying, material testing, fluid mechanics, and geotechnical labs—the department emphasizes hands-on learning, field training, and project-based education.

The academic approach is aligned with Outcome-Based Education (OBE), fostering problem-solving skills, innovation, ethical values, and lifelong learning. Strong industry interaction, internships, and research activities help students become professionally competent and ready to address real-world engineering challenges.

The department is committed to developing civil engineers who contribute effectively to sustainable infrastructure development, environmental protection, and nation-building
