People’s Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (PIHMCT) organized a special session on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) focusing on the cultural and traditional significance of the Holi festival. The session aimed to connect traditional Indian festivals with hospitality practices and cultural awareness among students.

During the session, Mr. Akshat Biswas, a second-semester student of PIHMCT, narrated the historical story and cultural background of the Holi festival. He explained the significance of Holika Dahan, highlighting its message of victory of good over evil and its importance in Indian tradition.

Students actively participated in discussions about the social and cultural values associated with Holi and how such traditional festivals play an important role in the hospitality and tourism industry, particularly in organizing cultural events, themed celebrations, and guest engagement activities in hotels and resorts.

The session also emphasized how festivals like Holi attract domestic and international tourists and create opportunities for hotels to showcase Indian traditions, festive cuisine, cultural programs, and hospitality practices.

All the faculty members of the institute were present during the session and appreciated the initiative of integrating Indian cultural knowledge with professional hotel management education.

The program successfully highlighted the importance of Indian festivals in hospitality services and strengthened students’ understanding of cultural heritage in the modern hotel industry.


OUTCOME:-The session enhanced students’ understanding of the cultural significance of Holi and Holika Dahan while highlighting the importance of Indian festivals in hospitality practices, guest engagement, and cultural tourism in the hotel industry.
