Department of Paediatrics
Pediatric department is a very lively and vibrant department of PCMS & RC. It is actively and energetically engaged in serving to cause of Paediatrics.
- Headed by a Professor, the faculty of the department is highly experienced, motivated and whole heartedly involved in teaching and patient care. It is a post graduate department with intake of two MD candidates per year. The Pediatrics curriculum for both PG & UG are well conceived, planned and executed as per the norms given by National Authorities. The department gives ample opportunities for research work by motivating UG student for STS projects and PGs for poster and paper presentation as well as paper publication besides their original thesis work.
- The department houses 80 beds in the ward and 20 bedded NICU and 20 bedded PICU. NICU and PICU are will equipped with state of the art equipments to take care of critically sick newborns and children. It has got a very spacious OPD having 5 chambers for outpatient consultation and one each for sub specialty clinic, immunization clinic, child guidance clinic and occupational therapy.
- The department has a library having 102 books, many of them are of recent edition. Library also keeps all the previously presented seminars by post graduates, Journals and many donated books by faculty members and outgoing PGs. The seminar room of the department is equipped with LCD projector and 30 chairs.
- There are 2 demonstration room, one each is OPD area and indoor area for clinical teaching and demonstration classes for UG & PG both. The research lab is equipped with a computer with internet facility. It also houses a copy of all the past thesis done by PGs as a helpful resource for the budding PGs.
- A museum next to research lab has may models, specimens, charts and other educational materials for demonstration purpose.
- The department has a spacious play area for the admitted patients, equipped with toys and story books where they can have some re-creational activities.
- Department also runs a 10 bedded NRC (Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre) which is a government aided unit and staffed with cook, nursing staff and feeding demonstrator.
